Building trust in neonatal brain monitoring: Evaluating a new electrode (aCUP-E) for aEEG

Albert Fabregat-Sanjuan · Agnes Rigo-Vidal · Rosa Pamies-Vila · Susana Larrosa-Capaces · Vanesa Rius-Costa · Jordi Julvez · Vicenc Pascual-Rubio

Compared with commercial electrodes, aCUP-E achieved 86.2% versus 65.3% optimal recording time, demonstrated improved survival over 24 h, lower impedance variability, and comparable signal acquisition according to Bland-Altman analysis. These findings support that new electrodes such the aCUP-E could improve and broden the use of aEEG as a reliable tool for prolonged neonatal neuromonitoring.

E-Placement

Comparison of electrode position marking procedures on the cranial surface

Albert Fabregat-Sanjuan · Agnes Rigo-Vidal · Rosa Pamies-Vila · Vicenc Pascual-Rubio

The study showed that the EPlacement device improves accuracy, reduces time, and is easy to use compared to the conventional method of electrode marking. The EPlacement method can facilitate the complex task of electrode marking and ultimately contribute to improved patient outcomes.

Evaluation of the Beam-F3 method for locating the F3 position from the 10-20 international system.

Albert Fabregat-Sanjuan · Rosa Pamies-Vila · Vicenc Pascual-Rubio

Despite the extensive usage of the Beam-F3 method to locate the F3 position for rTMS without MRI-based neuronavigation, its limitations must be considered. The Beam-F3 method does not locate the exact position of F3, and introduces an error that is dependent on the head shape. Calculating the F3 position using the Beam-F3 might hinder the assessment of the effectiveness of the therapies applied at this location that seek to generate changes in the underlying cortex.

Reducing Cranial Morphology Error in F3 Scalp Localization: Comparison of Heuristic and Regression-Based Methods

Rosa Pamies-Vila · Laia Mallol-Bordas · Vicenc Pascual-Rubio · Albert Fabregat-Sanjuan

Commonly used heuristic methods do not reliably recover the true F3 position across heterogeneous cranial morphologies. In contrast, individualized regression-based approaches substantially reduce morphology-related error, supporting more accurate and scalable MRI-free targeting for rTMS and other non-invasive brain stimulation applications.
